Alipay approached us for a brand refresh in 2023, and we crafted a distinct yet memorable identity centered around the core concept of "Shui" (Water) - the essence that moves, reflects, and connects people to everything they need. I partnered with the team to develop the visual identity from concepting to end product, leveraging my understanding of the spatial dynamics in Chinese calligraphy and 3D typography. This ensured that the concept of "Shui" (Water) was reflected in a modern way while remaining legible to those familiar with the original icon. Additionally, we created a series of graphic elements based on the detailed cursive script of the visual identity.

My role in this project extended beyond the creative aspects; I was heavily involved in managing conversations and feedback between internal teams and external clients. Navigating differences in language, culture, and working styles posed challenges, but these also served as catalysts for unique creative and business solutions that responded to the ever-changing demands of cross-country collaboration.
